Very little lightning activity is expected for much of this forecast period, however some deep convection is likely across Scotland at times, particularly on Thursday night into Friday morning. Instability is rather weak, but with strong shear a few lightning strikes will be possible.

UPDATE 07:10 UTC SMZ over England on Thursday morning, with scope for a line of heavy showers to develop as the morning progresses, moving SE-wards with time. Convective depth (and instability) somewhat limited, but very strong shear, so lightning potential is low but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. LOW threat area issued to highlight this risk.
