The remnants of the upper trough over SW England / Biscay on Tuesday morning will drift slowly northeastwards through the day, providing the focus for a few scattered heavy showers across southern England and the English Channel. A few isolated lightning strikes are possible.
Elsewhere, the next Atlantic frontal system will sweep a band of cloud and rain eastwards during the second half of the forecast period, followed by showers into western Ireland late in the night as the largescale upper vortex gradually approaches.
