Broad upper troughing persists across the British Isles on Tuesday, with a sharpening trough axis sliding southeastwards. Showers, and occasionally more organised bands of showery rain, will affect many areas through Tuesday, easing somewhat overnight as ridging develops from the west. Nonetheless, given steep mid-level lapse rates and 200-500 J/kg CAPE over open waters, a few isolated lightning strikes will be possible - primarily close to northern and western Scotland where instability will be maximised. Since lightning will be more isolated than recent days, no SLGT has been introduced.
