Showers will continue to affect northern Britain throughout Saturday, but with the zone of steep mid-level lapse rates becoming increasingly confined to northern Scotland. Hail is likely to accompany many of the showers (locally up to 1.5cm in diameter), and some sporadic lightning will be possible - especially across the Northern Isles. A more organised feature is expected to swing eastwards across Orkney and Shetland, perhaps grazing the far north of mainland Scotland, during the afternoon and could produce some damaging gusts of wind (70mph or so) - an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.
