Heights will slowly fall over the western English Channel on Friday night as an upper low over the Bay of Biscay nudges a little closer. An increasingly southeasterly upper flow will advect a higher Theta-W airmass across the area through the forecast period, becoming engaged by a trough swinging northwestwards during the evening and night. Consequently, some elevated convection is likely during this time, although the overall risk of lightning looks relatively low (and generally greatest further south, i.e. towards the Channel Islands).
