Scattered showers will affect parts of northern and western Scotland at times through Saturday and Saturday night, occasionally feeding farther inland on the strong westerly steering winds. Given a few hundred J/kg CAPE and steep mid-level lapse rates, isolated lightning strikes will be possible - more especially over the Northern Isles. Some line convection is also likely along the cold front in Ireland, southern Scotland and northern England on Saturday morning, but this will likely be too shallow for any lightning and in either case is expected to weaken as the front continues to slide southwards through the day.
