Scattered showers will develop widely across northern and eastern Britain on Friday in response to diurnal heating. Overall convection will be shallower in depth than the past few days, and so the risk of lightning is lower (generally 10-15% in any one location) but a few isolated strikes could occur from the strongest cells. Small hail is also likely in several showers, and localised gusts of 30-40mph may be possible.
